Create a 2 minutes youtube video about the research topics and the group of professor Waldmann:
The research is in Nanophysics and Molecular Nanomagnets.
Especially Single Molecule Magnets (SMMs). Picture of Molecule Magnets. Our colleaques the chemists are synthesizing the SMMs.
Molecular magnets consist of magnetic ions in their core which are surrounded by organic ligands. The positions of the magnetic ions in the core of such a molecule are well defined.
But how do these ions interact and what phenomena can be seen here? what are the exchange interactions and how strong are they?
We study the SMMs with inelastic neutron scattering (INS) to determine the energy spectra and the ground state and the exchange interactions between the magnetic ions.
Show Neutron Scattering Events.
Explain Inelastic Neutron Scattering.
For a fruitful analysis high quality spectroscopic data is recorded and needed.
INS is a powerfull tool. Also magnetization and magnetic susceptibility are measured, which give thermodynamic insight into the magnetic behaviour of the SMMs.
The time cost for a simulation of the observables exact can be months.
Therefore, the in House code is optimized and uses approaches as group theory or sparse matrix alogrithms to reduce the time cost.
What are Molecule Magnets? And what are SMMs?
How can we proper describe magnetism at the Nanoscale?

Show Spin up and Spin down as arrows on ions. Show spin waves.
Do not show MRT or any hospital or doctors place.
do not show a microscope.
do not show NMR.
Do not show a brain.
We like to discuss and show our research ideas and results at a coffee break.
Show a coffee cup.
Prof Waldmann is a great rock climber and the research group regularly goes bouldering.
